A 39-year-old Bengaluru start-up CEO named Suchana Seth was detained on Monday night in Chitradurga and returned to Goa the following day. She is accused of killing her 4-year-old kid. Claiming that the child was dead when she woke up from her slumber, the CEO of Mindful AI Lab, who is being held by the authorities for six days, has denied any role in the crime. Authorities are still in the process of determining the murder's motivation. Seth is described as an expert in AI ethics and data science on LinkedIn. She has over 12 years of experience leading data science teams and scaling machine learning solutions at industrial research labs and start-ups.
The North Goa Superintendent of Police, Nidhin Valsan, told news agency ANI earlier on Tuesday that the accused appeared dissatisfied with the recent court ruling allowing her husband to spend time with their child on Sunday. Divorce proceedings have been ongoing between the accused and her spouse since 2022. Two empty bottles of cough syrup were discovered in the Goa apartment where she is accused of killing her son, suggesting that she may have given him a strong amount of the medication, police reported news agency PTI. This suggested that the murder appeared to have been prearranged. "There were no evidence of struggle, and the post-mortem examination of the body suggested that the youngster may have been smothered to death. The officer was quoted by PTI as saying, "We are investigating the possibility if the woman gave the child a heavy dose of cough syrup before putting him to death." Seth underwent psychological testing, according to the authorities, in order to evaluate her mental state and determine the reason behind the horrific crime.
Media sources state that Suchana also claimed that her husband had physically abused their 4-year-old kid. She also submitted copies of her medical records and her WhatsApp conversations as evidence for her allegation, according to Live Hindustan. Furthermore, she had requested alimony in the amount of ₹2.5 lakh per month, given her husband's annual salary exceeding ₹1 crore.
