32,184 graduate applications have been submitted to the Yuva Nidhi program in the nearly ten days after registration commenced. The incumbent Congress administration in Karnataka has pledged five guarantees, the fifth of which is Yuva Nidhi, which provides two years of jobless benefits to students who graduate or complete diploma programs in 2023. slightly 6% of beneficiaries who are eligible have applied for the program, with slightly over 32,000 registrations. The departments of skill development, entrepreneurship, and livelihood have shared data, and the top two districts on the list are Bengaluru Urban and Belagavi. There have been 2,853 applications submitted in Bengaluru Urban and nearly 3,900 applications in Belagavi.
Bagalkot (1,943), Vijayapura (1,741), and Raichur (1,714) had the next-highest number of applications. There were fewer registrations in districts like Ramanagara (329), Kodagu (120), Udupi (236), and Chamarajanagar (237). Due to the concentration of colleges, Bengaluru and Belagavi topped the list, a senior official in the skill development, entrepreneurship, and livelihood department informed Indian Express. More colleges in each of these districts translates into more graduates.
The number of youngsters who qualify as beneficiaries is estimated to reach 5.3 lakh, having graduated in the academic year 2022–2023. Those who work, however, and those who are going to college cannot apply. The initiative is estimated to cost Rs 1,250 crore the following year and Rs 2,500 crore the year after. A total of Rs 250 crore has been set aside for the remaining fiscal year. At a special event at Shivamogga on January 12, to commemorate Swami Vivekananda Jayanti, the beneficiaries will receive credit for the allowance.
