94 students at Tilka Manjhi Bhagalpur University (TMBU) were unable to complete their final paper for the second semester postgraduate Hindi exam on Tuesday due to unprinted question papers, marking a new low for the notoriously leaky state of Bihar. On the controller of examinations and the director of the Hindi postgraduate department, the vice chancellor has served a show-cause notice.
The second week of March saw the announcement of the second semester postgraduation exam schedule. The final exam was held on Tuesday since the other two papers could not be printed. Exams for the other three papers had already been held. The exam was returned without being completed by ninety-four of the students who took it. The updated exam date has not yet been released by the institution.
The controller of examination, according to university sources, was not given the question papers to start the printing process. Public relations officer (PRO) at TMBU Ashok Thakur stated that Hindi, the head of the department (HoD), had attributed the error to the confusion brought about by the implementation of the choice-based credit system (CBCS).
Prior to this, the university's lack of answer books caused the degree part II exam to be delayed by nearly a year. The PRO said on Thursday that the degree part II test would now start on April 25. He stated that candidates would initially be handed unused answer booklets from prior years to complete their papers. The former vice chancellor was prevented from making financial decisions during his final term in office, according to officials, therefore answer booklets could not be printed. Limited authority also belonged to the in-charge VC who took over later. Approximately 70,000 students who plan to sit for the degree part II exams would need about 3.5 lakh response books.
Bihar's reputation has already been damaged by images of widespread cheating in the 2015 Bihar School Examination Board exams, the intermediate toppers' scandal the following year, and the recent release of the Bihar personnel Selection Commission test question paper for the employment of clerical personnel.
