The 2023 Jammu and Kashmir Reservation (Amendment) Bill and the 2023 Jammu and Kashmir Reorganisation (Amendment) Bill were approved by the Lok Sabha recently. In his address to the Lok Sabha on Wednesday regarding the Jammu and Kashmir Reservation (Amendment) Bill, 2023 and the Jammu and Kashmir Reorganisation (Amendment) Bill, 2023, Union Home Minister Amit Shah claimed that former Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru made "two blunders" that caused years of suffering for Kashmir residents. In response, opposition members of the House left the room in protest.
In the meantime, the Jammu and Kashmir Reservation (Amendment) Bill, 2023 and the Jammu and Kashmir Reorganisation (Amendment) Bill, 2023 were approved by the Lok Sabha on Tuesday after a debate on the bills. "Jammu and Kashmir has suffered due to two blunders committed by Prime Minister Nehru - first, by announcing ceasefire and then, by taking Kashmir issue to the United Nations," Amit Shah stated during a debate on the two Bills.
He also accused the former prime minister of handing over Pakistan-occupied Kashmir to their neighbor. If Jawaharlal Nehru had taken the proper actions, the PoK would presently be a part of India. It was a historic error, he declared. Shah emphasized the suffering caused by terror activities in the Kashmir valley and said, "Kashmiri Pandits would not have had to leave the valley if terrorism had been tackled in the beginning without considering vote-bank politics." He also highlighted the following while elaborating on the Bills' provisions for Kashmiris: "One seat in the Jammu and Kashmir assembly will be reserved for people displaced from Pakistan-occupied Kashmir."
According to his presentation, Jammu & Kashmir has seen roughly 45,000 fatalities as a result of terrorism. "Our goal is to eradicate Jammu and Kashmir's terror environment... By 2026, the three-year plan to have no terror incidents in Jammu and Kashmir will be successful. Additionally, he stated that the Narendra Modi administration intends to eradicate terrorism in the valley by 2026. "I hope there will be no terror incident in Jammu and Kashmir by 2026. The Modi government will return to power in 2024."
