Since the previous month, when the number of COVID-19 cases surged, particularly in Kerala, cases have been continuously increasing throughout India. Following the appearance of Omicron sub-variant JN.1, state and federal governments have acted to stop its spread. In light of this, rules for COVID-19 suspected or positive cases that will be reported at hospitals have been released by the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in Delhi.
This novel strain is being closely examined by scientists and has been designated as a Variant of Interest (VOI) by the World Health Organization (WHO). This variation proved to be fatal for elderly individuals and those with any kind of comorbidity. Data from the Health Ministry released yesterday showed that India reported 636 new coronavirus cases and three COVID-related deaths in a single day. There were two Kerala deaths and one Tamil Nadu death reported. The majority of the patients are healing at home in isolation, according to the 16 cases of COVID-19 sub-variant JN.1 that Delhi has reported, officials said on Tuesday. A first instance of COVID-19 sub-variant JN.1 was reported last week from the nation's capital.
An official stated that on Monday, reports of 19 samples that were sent for genome sequencing were received. Fifteen of these samples had JN detection.1 version, 2 with the XBB sub-variant, and the remaining variants, according to the officials.
