The state of Gujarat plans to launch the first undersea tourist program in India. Together with the Mazgaon Dock Limited (MDL), it has embarked on an expedition to investigate the marine life around Bet Dwarka, a small island off the coast of Dwarka city that is significant to Hindu mythology. Every year, a large number of tourists flock to Dwarka because of its religious significance. One of the most important Hindu pilgrimage sites is the well-known Dwarkadhish Temple. Based on the Titanic submarine expedition, which made headlines lately when one of its ships tragically disintegrated in the Atlantic Ocean, this project aims to replicate that experience.
Before Diwali in 2024, the tourism facility is probably going to be operational. It will make it possible for visitors to explore the marine life surrounding the island by plunging 100 meters below the surface in a submarine. Mythological sources claim that the location contains a submerged metropolis that was founded by Lord Krishna. According to the Times of India, an official project announcement would be made at the next Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit.
It is estimated that the submarine will weigh about 35 tons and be able to accommodate 30 people. Twenty-four tourists will be forced to sit in two rows next to window seats at the same time so they may readily enjoy the inside view.
