As the first airline to connect the two cities, IndiGo will start operating daily direct flights between Mumbai and Ayodhya on January 15. The flight from Mumbai to Ayodhya is scheduled to depart at 12:30 pm and arrive at 2:45 pm. The return flight from Ayodhya to Mumbai is scheduled to depart at 3:15 pm and arrive at 5:40 pm. This comes after, on December 13, IndiGo started operating flights between Ayodhya and Delhi in an attempt to take advantage of the impending opening of the Ram temple. Air India Express has revealed that it will begin operating flights on December 30 between Delhi and Ayodhya.
Prior to this, on December 13, IndiGo made history by being the first airline to connect Delhi with the Maryada Purushottam Shri Ram International Airport in Ayodhya. This move was made in order to take advantage of the ambitious plan of the BJP government to open the Ram temple and propel it into the ranks of the world's most important Hindu pilgrimage sites. The official opening of the temple is set for January 22.
The airline, which is renowned for aggressively establishing itself in new home markets, will launch the route on December 30 from Delhi to Ayodhya, and begin commercial operations there on January 6. It has now connected Mumbai to the town in Uttar Pradesh with a daily trip, having previously announced flights from Ahmedabad to Ayodhya starting on January 11.
