India has been dubbed a "extraordinary success story" by US Secretary of State Antony Blinken, who also stated that Prime Minister Narendra Modi's policies and initiatives have greatly benefited the Indian people. Blinken brought attention to the positive relationship between US President Joe Biden and Modi during his speech at the World Economic Forum Annual Meeting in 2024. He underscored that the discussions between them cover a broad spectrum of subjects, encompassing the entirety of US-India ties. He said, “We see an extraordinary success story and we see the remarkable achievements that Prime Minister Modi has achieved moving forward under his watch that have materially benefited and positively affected so many of the allies. We also see our relationship between our countries that is in a new place at a new level. That's been a very deliberate effort by both the Prime Minister and President Biden. At the same time, a constant and regular part of our conversation is the conversation about democracy and about human rights.”
Blinken was answering a question about growing worries about Hindu nationalism in India despite the country's economic expansion and infrastructural advancements during the Modi administration. Blinken praised the continued growth of bilateral ties and pointed out that the US and India had regular conversations about a range of topics, such as democracy and fundamental rights.
