Flight operations were disrupted on Tuesday as a result of the thick fog that shrouded Delhi upon awakening and reduced visibility to about 50 meters. A traveler advisory was also released by the Delhi airport due to the fog, which caused delays on a number of both local and international flights.
In its bulletin from Tuesday morning, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) stated that dense fog conditions with visibility of 50 meters were still reported for Palam and Safdarjung. It should be noted that the reported humidity is 100%, the dew point and dry bulb temperatures are between 10 and 11 degrees Celsius, and the wind speed is between 3 and 7 kmph, which causes dense fog to build over Delhi. The national capital saw a minimum temperature of nine degrees Celsius on Tuesday morning, while the maximum temperature is predicted to reach 22 degrees Celsius, according to the IMD.
It is anticipated that areas like as Jammu & Kashmir, Ladakh, Gilgit, Baltistan, Muzaffarabad, and Himachal Pradesh could encounter mild precipitation or snowfall until February 3. More specifically, significant precipitation or snowfall is expected in Kashmir on January 30 and 31, and Himachal Pradesh is expected to see similar weather on January 31.
Additionally, there is a chance of light to moderate rainfall in Uttarakhand, Punjab, Chandigarh, Haryana, and western Uttar Pradesh between January 31 and February 2. According to the forecast, precipitation was brought to the indicated locations during the designated time frame by the coming western disturbance, which is thought to be the cause of these weather conditions. The unfavorable circumstances are causing a great deal of trouble and making travel and daily commuting difficult.
The approach of a second western disturbance to the plains is predicted to cause light rain in Delhi on both January 31 and February 1, according to IMD. According to the IMD, rain fell in many northern locations, especially on January 30 and 31, as a result of a wet spell that formed across the Western Himalayan Region between January 29 and February 3.
