In his speech, Prime Minister Modi addressed "unruly MPs" and urged reflection as the Budget Session of Parliament convenes on Wednesday, the day before the interim Budget 2024. PM Modi stated, "We saw a display of women empowerment on January 26 too," in reference to the women's reservation law that was approved by the new Parliament. The interim budget will be presented by Nirmala Sitharaman ji tomorrow, while President Droupadi Murmu will address the assembly today. It is Nari Shakthi's celebration.
"In the last 10 years, MPs did what suited them in Parliament," Prime Minister Modi stated in a jab at lawmakers who were alleged to have disrupted the legislative process. However, I must state that individuals who engage in "habitual offenders," or who regularly engage in "cheerharan" behavior toward democracy, ought to reflect at the previous session. They can even inquire with the residents of their constituency to see if they are remembered for that."
According to PM Modi, people who oppose just for the sake of opposing are forgotten, in contrast to those who criticize with the fiercest language yet make real, constructive contributions to the discussion. "There's also room for remorse with this. PM Modi stated, "I will implore my fellow lawmakers to hold this session."
During his speech, Prime Minister Modi mentioned that it is customary to provide an interim budget before an election. PM Modi declared, "After we form the government after the election, we will present the full budget." Thirty minutes after the President's speech, the Houses will begin to convene. A copy of the President's speech will be placed on the table of each House by the Secretary Generals of the Rajya Sabha and Lok Sabha.
During the past session, 146 opposition MPs were suspended between December 17 and December 19, an unprecedented amount of suspensions. A day before the session, the suspension of fourteen Members of Parliament was lifted. Fourteen members of parliament are on suspension: K Jayakumar and Abdul Khaleque of the Congress, Vijay Kumar of the Janata Dal (United), and GC Chandrasekhar; Congressmen Jebi Mather, L Hanumanthaiah, Neeraj Dangi, Rajmani Patel, Kumar Ketkar, and GC Chandrasekhar; Binoy Viswam and Sandosh Kumar of the Communist Party of India; Mohamad Abdulla of the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam; and John Brittas and AA Rahim of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) from the Rajya Sabha.
