On Tuesday, the suspension of 11 Rajya Sabha MPs was lifted, one day before of the start of the Parliamentary Budget Session. During the Winter Session of Parliament, the Opposition MPs were suspended for interfering with House business by calling for a debate on the Parliament breach that occurred on December 13.
The leaders of different political parties were informed by the Centre during the all-party meeting that they were prepared to talk about any topic, according to PTI. The government was represented at the meeting by Defence Minister and Deputy Leader of the Lok Sabha Rajnath Singh, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Joshi, and his deputy Arjun Ram Meghwal. Opposition politicians in attendance at the Parliament House complex included K Suresh of the Congress, Sudip Bandopadhyay of the TMC, T R Baalu of the DMK, Rahul Shewale of the Shiv Sena, S T Hasan of the Samajwadi Party, Ram Nath Thakur of the JD(U), and Jayadev Galla of the TDP.
The Leader of the Opposition in the Rajya Sabha, Mallikarjun Kharge, was represented by Congress MP Pramod Tiwari, who stated he brought up the subject of the “violent attack” on Rahul Gandhi’s Bharat Jodo Yatra in Assam. He claimed that there is a "unwritten dictatorship" in the nation and accused the Center of abusing its investigation agencies. In anticipation of the Lok Sabha elections, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman is scheduled to present an interim budget during the upcoming budget session, which runs from January 31 to February 9.
Parliamentary Affairs Minister Pralhad Joshi told reporters in New Delhi that he has already discussed the suspension of over 150 MPs with the Speaker of the Lok Sabha and the Chairman of the Rajya Sabha. He claimed to have asked the authorities to lift the suspension "on behalf of the Center." He went on to say that the Speaker of the Lok Sabha and the Chairman of the Rajya Sabha had jurisdiction over this issue. Joshi said "yes" in response to the question of whether the suspended MPs would be present in the budget session.
