In a testament to unwavering determination, a dramatic rescue operation culminated in the liberation of 41 workers who had been trapped inside the Uttarkashi tunnel since November 12. This arduous mission, spanning over 400 grueling hours, faced relentless challenges, yet the resilience of the rescue teams persevered against all odds.
The rescue effort encountered numerous setbacks, enduring the trials of handling 57 meters of debris obstructing access to the trapped workers. Despite setbacks, the unwavering resolve of the rescuers prevailed. When the drilling machine faltered, the miners stepped in, digging through the final 12 meters with sheer grit and determination, finally reaching the stranded individuals.
As the clock struck 8 pm, the first worker emerged from the tunnel and was promptly transferred to a nearby medical facility via ambulance. Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, accompanied by Union Minister of State General (Retd) VK Singh, personally met and greeted the rescued workers, extending his support and encouragement.
Addressing the monumental rescue, Chief Minister Dhami assured that the liberated workers would undergo comprehensive medical observation before being allowed to return home. He further announced financial aid, sanctioning Rs 1 lakh for each of the 41 construction workers. Moreover, Dhami affirmed the reconstruction of the Baukhnag temple and emphasized the imperative review of ongoing tunnel constructions across the hilly terrain of Uttarakhand.
This extraordinary feat stands as a beacon of resilience and unity, showcasing the unwavering commitment of the rescue teams and government officials in safeguarding lives amidst adversity.
