Delhi Police swiftly intervened in a critical situation, apprehending two individuals associated with the Lawrence Bishnoi criminal gang after a tense encounter in Delhi's Vasant Kunj area. Notably, one of the detained individuals is a minor.
Anish (23), hailing from Haryana's Rohtak, and a 15-year-old were intercepted at 9:40 pm as they were en route to carry out an ordered act of arson near a prestigious 5-star hotel in South Delhi. This action was purportedly instructed by Amit, currently incarcerated in a Punjab jail, under the directions of gangster Anmol Bishnoi, cousin of the elusive Lawrence Bishnoi, who is suspected to be hiding in Canada while Lawrence is held in Gujarat's Sabarmati jail.
The police were alerted about the duo's intention to commit arson at the hotel, seemingly as part of an extortion scheme.
During the encounter, the accused fired five rounds, prompting the police to respond with two rounds in self-defence. Fortunately, no injuries were reported. Law enforcement subsequently confiscated two pistols along with four live cartridges, in addition to seizing the motorcycle used in the intended crime.
Charges have been filed under sections of the Indian Penal Code and the Arms Act.
Anish's criminal record reveals involvement in six cases related to armed robbery, the Arms Act, and assault, with prior involvement in a juvenile armed robbery case in Haryana's Rohtak district.
