The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has unveiled significant changes and initiatives, offering a spectrum of opportunities for students across various domains.
One of the prominent announcements is the provision of special exams for students involved in national or international sports events and Olympiads. These exams will be conducted at a later date to accommodate the participation of these students without compromising their academics. To be eligible, participation must be in sports recognized by the Sports Authority of India (SAI), the Board of Cricket Control in India (BCCI), or Olympiads acknowledged by the Homi Bhabha Center for Science Education (HBCSE).
Furthermore, the CBSE has released a comprehensive set of sample question papers, totaling 60 for Class 10 and 77 for Class 12. Accessible on the official website cbseacademic.nic.in, these sample papers include marking schemes, offering students a valuable preparatory resource.
In alignment with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, the CBSE has introduced a new curriculum framework (NCF) aimed at conducting board exams twice a year. Notably, students will have the advantage of retaining their best score across these biannual exams. This transformative change emphasizes flexibility, allowing students to appear for exams in subjects they have completed and feel confident about.
Another key modification includes the obligation for Class 11 and 12 students to study two languages, with at least one being an Indian language. The restrictions on subject streams have been removed, granting students the liberty to choose their subjects, thereby promoting a more comprehensive and flexible learning approach. These measures align with the educational objectives outlined in the NEP 2020, providing students with a holistic and adaptable academic experience.
