Ranbir Kapoor's crime epic "Animal," helmed by director Sandeep Reddy Vanga, continues its triumphant run at the box office, showcasing unwavering momentum even after a week in cinemas. On its eighth day in theatres, the film featuring Kapoor in the lead role amassed an astounding Rs 23.34 crore in India alone, propelling its cumulative collection to an impressive Rs 362.11 crore, as reported by industry tracker Sacnilk.
The film embarked on a stellar opening week, commencing with an outstanding Rs 63.80 crore on its debut day. Subsequently, it maintained its robust performance, securing Rs 66.27 crore on Saturday, Rs 71.46 crore on Sunday, Rs 43.96 crore on Monday, Rs 37.47 crore on Tuesday, Rs 30.39 crore on Wednesday, and Rs 24.23 crore on Thursday. With a global collection of Rs 563 crore, confirmed by T-Series, "Animal" now holds the position as the fourth-highest-grossing Hindi movie of the year, trailing behind "Gadar 2," "Pathaan," and "Jawan," and is set to surpass "Sanju" as Ranbir Kapoor's highest-grossing film.
Notably, "Animal" secured the third-largest opening week in Hindi cinema history, marking the highest ever for a non-holiday release. It currently stands as the top-grossing A-rated Indian movie to date.
In comparison, the Hindi version of "Jawan" amassed Rs 327.88 crore during its initial week, while "Pathaan" recorded Rs 318.50 crore, and "Gadar 2" accrued Rs 284.63 crore in the same timeframe. These figures specifically represent the net box office collections of the Hindi versions across India.
Despite a mixed reception, "Animal" is projected to dominate box office earnings until the release of Shah Rukh Khan's "Dunki" on December 21. Starring Bobby Deol, Anil Kapoor, and Rashmika Mandanna in pivotal roles, the film has encountered criticism for its portrayal of toxic masculinity, a stance defended by some cast members.
Recently, Rashmika took to X to reflect on her character Gitanjali, describing her as "pure, real, unfiltered, strong, and raw." She shared insights into her character's actions, acknowledging the director's perspective on the narrative being centered around Ranvijay and Gitanjali's story, their love, passion, families, and lives.
The commendable performance of "Animal" at the box office continues to captivate audiences, marking a significant milestone in Ranbir Kapoor's cinematic journey.
