The notorious underworld don Dawood Ibrahim, who has been hiding in Pakistan for decades, has recently been the subject of false death rumours on social media. A Pakistani YouTuber claimed that Ibrahim was poisoned and hospitalized, and linked this to an internet shutdown in Pakistan on December 17
However, these claims have been debunked by credible intelligence sources, who attributed the internet outage to a virtual meeting of the opposition party PTI.
While Ibrahim continues to evade Indian law enforcement and international sanctions, his lavish lifestyle and extravagant preferences have been revealed by intercepted calls between him and his associates. In one of the calls, Ibrahim is heard asking his associate Farooq to buy him Louis Vuitton shoes from a store in Jeddah
He also instructs him to bring holy Zamzam water
In another call, his first wife Maizabin is heard discussing a shopping spree that involves a Louis Vuitton bag, a shawl, and a makeup budget of 2 lakh Pakistani Rupees
These revelations shed light on the contrast between Ibrahim’s luxurious living and his criminal activities, which include international narcotics smuggling, illegal arms trade, real estate, money laundering and terrorism
Ibrahim, who is a UN-designated global fugitive, is believed to be involved in several terror attacks in India, including the 1993 Mumbai blasts.
