According to Delhi Police sources, the mastermind behind the recent Parliament smoke scare might be Lalit Jha, who is currently evading authorities and was last spotted in Neemrana, located around 125 km from Delhi.
Reports suggest a broader conspiracy behind the incident that occurred on December 13, with initial investigations hinting at Jha's alleged involvement in orchestrating the attack. This date coincided with the 22nd anniversary of a prior terrorist attack on the old Parliament building, adding significance to the choice of timing.
Hailing from Kolkata and working as a teacher, Jha was reportedly inspired by the revolutionary figure Shaheed Bhagat Singh and sought to garner attention through his actions, sources revealed.
Despite his motives, there's no apparent link connecting Jha to any known terror group, as per police sources.
The sequence of events indicated that Jha had summoned his associates - Sagar Sharma, D Manoranjan, Neelam Devi, Amol Shinde, and Vicky Sharma - to Gurugram the morning before the incident. The group had intentions of simultaneously deploying the smoke canisters inside Parliament, but only Sharma and Manoranjan managed to secure visitors' passes, allegedly facilitated by BJP MP Prathap Simha's office. Mr. Simha denied any personal involvement apart from facilitating the pass issuance through the Lok Sabha Secretariat's visitor screening process.
As the investigation progresses, authorities continue to pursue Jha, considering him a key figure in the orchestrated Parliament security breach.
