In a distressing incident in Srinagar, Jammu and Kashmir, a police personnel named Mohammad Hafiz Chad sustained injuries in a terrorist attack. The injured officer was identified and promptly taken to a hospital for medical treatment, as confirmed by the Jammu and Kashmir Police.
The attack occurred in the Bemina area of Srinagar, leading to the immediate cordoning off of the affected region.
Hafiz, originally from Karnah in north Kashmir’s Kupwara district, currently resides in Bemina, according to reports from news agency PTI.
This incident follows closely after a tragic event where colleagues and family members bid their final farewells to Jammu and Kashmir Police Inspector Masroor Ahmad Wani at a wreath-laying ceremony held in the city.
Wani was a victim of a Lashkar-e-Taiba terrorist attack while playing cricket in Srinagar during October. Despite medical efforts, he succumbed to injuries at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in Delhi on Thursday.
The assailant fired three shots at Wani from close range, resulting in fatal injuries to his eye, abdomen, and neck. Wani leaves behind his wife, who is expecting their first child, as the tragic loss reverberates through the community.
