The estranged wife of Gautam Singhania, Nawaz Modi, has leveled serious allegations against the Raymond Group Chairman, accusing him of abusive behavior and religious coercion, adding to the ongoing saga between the couple.
In an audio clip that recently surfaced, Nawaz Modi detailed an ordeal where Singhania allegedly compelled her to undertake a demanding trek to the Tirupati temple in Andhra Pradesh without food or water. She claims that Singhania had promised to visit the temple with her if she consented to their marriage but later forced her to make the strenuous ascent without any sustenance.
Describing the harrowing experience in the clip, Nawaz Modi expressed distress over the trek, stating, "He made me walk all those steps... without food, water, nothing... I nearly fainted two or three times."
Singhania's devotion to Lord Venkateswara, the deity of the Tirupati temple, is widely known. He has contributed significantly to the construction of a temple in Mumbai and actively supports educational institutions affiliated with the temple board.
However, Nawaz Modi expressed disdain, suggesting Singhania's devotion stemmed from monetary interests, asserting, "The reason he is such a big bhakt (devotee) is that is the god of money."
This recent accusation follows the couple's highly publicized split, during which Nawaz Modi demanded a significant portion of Singhania's substantial net worth. In a subsequent interview, she alleged a disturbing incident where Singhania purportedly "assaulted" her and their daughter after a birthday celebration.
