Following extensive interrogation, the four individuals detained in connection with the recent security breach at Parliament have been charged under the anti-terror Unlawful Activities Prevention Act (UAPA), as confirmed by Delhi Police.
The arrests were made pertaining to the breach carried out by Manoranjan D and Sagar Sharma, who trespassed into the Lok Sabha, creating chaos by releasing smoke cans from the visitors' gallery. Additionally, Neelam Azad and Amol Shinde were apprehended for releasing smoke canisters outside the Parliament premises.
Charges against the accused include Sections 153 (provocation to cause riot), 120-B (criminal conspiracy), 452 (trespass), 186 (obstruction of public servants), 353 (criminal force to deter public servants), under the Indian Penal Code. Furthermore, Sections 16 and 18 of the UAPA have been invoked in the case.
A senior police official stated that efforts are underway to apprehend their associate, Lalit Jha, who is currently absconding. The investigation has been transferred to the Counter Intelligence Unit of the Special Cell. The accused will be produced before the Patiala House Court to seek police custody for further interrogation.
Police sources revealed that the accused arrived in the capital separately over the past few days, with Jha reportedly facilitating their stay at a residence in Gurgaon, belonging to his acquaintance named Vicky.
The authorities are intensifying their efforts to fully probe the matter and bring all involved individuals to justice.
