The Congress party has announced the launch of its online crowdfunding campaign, ‘donate for desh’, inspired by Mahatma Gandhi’s historic ‘Tilak Swaraj Fund’ in 1920-21. The campaign aims to empower the party in creating an India rich in equal resource distribution and opportunities.
The campaign will be officially launched by the Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge on December 18, with the donation link going live simultaneously
The party has invited supporters to donate multiples of Rs 138, symbolising the party’s 138-year journey and commitment to a better India.
The campaign will primarily be online until December 28, the foundation day, after which the party will initiate ground campaigns, including door-to-door visits by volunteers, targeting at least ten houses in every booth for contributions of at least Rs 138 from each house
The party has also encouraged its state-level office bearers, elected representatives, and AICC office bearers to contribute at least Rs 1,380 each
The party has asked its state units to identify potential donors among party well-wishers and functionaries, aiming for contributions of Rs 1,380 or Rs 13,800
The Congress party has said that the campaign is a strategic approach to ensure the success of its vision for a better India
The party has also expressed its concern over the recent security breach in Parliament, calling it a terror attack and a security lapse from the government side. The party has demanded that Home Minister Amit Shah make a statement in both Houses over the incident.
