A social media influencer and Class 10 student in Ujjain is said to have committed suicide as a result of constant harassment on his social media accounts, where trolls called him names that were homophobic for wearing cosmetics and sarees.
On November 21, as the minor was alone himself at home, he hanged himself with his mother's dupatta.
The student's phone has been confiscated, and Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp will be consulted for further information. As of now, no firm reason has been found for the suicide, according to Kamal Singh Gehlot, the Nagjhiri Police Station's in-charge.
The aspiring influencer, who had over 15,000 followers on Instagram, committed suicide because he was tired of the outpouring of abuse he received online for being gay.
The tipping moment came after Pranshu's Diwali Reel, in which they boldly displayed their saree-clad self. This celebration of self-expression sparked a barrage of homophobic remarks on Instagram, which added to the upsetting events that led to Pranshu's untimely death. This tragic event highlights how vital it is to confront and stop online hate crimes against the LGBTQIA+ community.
