(A tribute to Vinayak Damodar Savarkar)
Eternal sound of the Andaman sea waves,
Reminds my nation of a ferocious struggle,
History scripted with heroes blood and toil,
Frightened an empire bending its toes.
Two rigorous imprisonments by the cruel Hague,
Could not prevent a lion's roar,
From the dark dungeons of the enemy's fort,
Fiery words kept my nation awake.
A heroic escape from the foe's ship,
Into the vast waters of the Marseilles seas,
Triggered millions to lay down their lives,
Solely for the nation's sake.
Devotion to nation in his every breath,
Liberated a nation from its slavery chains,
He sacrificed his all so a sovereign can rise,
Steadfast and tall aiming towards the skies.
Clarion call to the sea and Mother India's praise,
His evergreen couplets a national heritage,
The unparelled script of 1857 rebellion war,
A guiding force uniting India as one.
Be it prison of Byculla or the walls of Dongri,
India's freedom his only aim,
Walking on the path of Shivaji's swarajya,
He gave Indians what was their very own.
Lives of great men like Savarkar remind us,
History was not created in a day,
Great souls while their comrades slept,
Were toiling hard in the night.
O Lord! I pray to thee,
Let the music of Savarkar 's heroism echo far and wide,
Let his toil and sacrifice spark a billion minds,
My nation indebted to him forever.
