Fake notes showing the value of crores of rupees are being caught every year in the country. This shows that a large number of fake notes are in circulation in the country. These are not only a cause of trouble for the people but are also a big challenge for the country's economy. In the last three years, security agencies have seized fake notes worth about Rs 138 crore.
The trend of fake notes has increased in India. According to RBI data, the number of fake Rs 500 notes in the country has doubled, while the number of fake Rs 2000 notes has also increased by more than 50 percent. From time to time, the Central Bank keeps issuing alerts related to the identification of real notes, so that fake notes can be controlled. According to the report of ET Now, there has been an unprecedented increase in the number of fake notes in the financial year 2021-22.
While taking the decision of demonetisation in the year 2016, the central government had said that one of its many benefits would be to curb the use of fake notes. But looking at the latest annual report of the Reserve Bank of India, it is clear that the circulation of fake notes has only increased in India.
