Why did you kill me?
What was the fault in me,
That made you to abandon me in moments?

Was I suffering from some defects?
And didn't you love me as much as
You loved my brothers?

Why did you soak my body in blood?
Keeping me in your womb for nine months-
You decided to leave me in seconds!

Why did you take my life away?
For me , I was longing to see you -
As soon as I developed senses!

I too wanted to lead a normal life
By receiving your love forever,
That would have nurtured me in my life!
Mother, o mother!
I wanted to see the world with you;
But was it really easy for you-
To abort me down with medications?
For being born as a female
Is really a curse in this society?
For us, they don't have a place in their heart
But for males, they do have space!
A harsh reality this society doesn't understand-
Even to germinate a male,
Only a female has that potential
To contribute this to her family!
Then why female foeticide?
Why aborting a girl child?
Is this just because the society won't accept?
Or dignity of the family losses?
