A really sad incident happened on August 26, 2023. Nine tourists from Uttar Pradesh were inside a train coach near the Madurai Railway junction. They were sleeping when a fire started. Three women were among those who lost their lives, and eight others got hurt. It's an important reminder that we have to be careful when using things that can catch fire.
The fire began because of a gas leak from a cylinder that the tourists used to make tea inside the coach. The fire began at around 5:30 in the morning. The doors inside the coach were locked and couldn't be opened easily, which trapped the people inside. They had to break a lock to escape, but some of them got hurt by that time.
These tourists, around 55 of them, had left from Lucknow on August 17 for a trip. They were supposed to come back on August 29. They were planning to visit the Meenakshi temple in Madurai on that Saturday. But the fire changed everything and brought sadness to their families.
The government quickly sent help. Important people like P. Moorthi and M.S. Sangeetha went to the place. The injured people were taken to a hospital for treatment. The ones who lost their lives were also taken to the hospital so that they could be identified properly.
We need to remember that using things that can easily catch fire is dangerous, especially in small places like trains. The police are checking what exactly happened. They will decide what to do next after they get more information.
To help the families of the people who died, the government said they would give some money. There are also phone numbers you can call if you need help. This is really sad news, and it reminds us to always be careful and take safety seriously.
