The new Additional Director General (ADG) for Agra Zone, Anupam Kulshrestha, recently visited Mathura to review security arrangements for the Janmashtami celebrations. The centerpiece of the celebrations will be at Sri Krishna Janmbhoomi, where the main event, Janmotsav (birth celebration) of Lord Krishna, will take place at midnight on September 7th. Security at this revered site is under the vigilant watch of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), with assistance from the Police Armed Constabulary (PAC) and local police.
The importance of crowd management has come to the forefront, given the sheer number of devotees expected to flock to Mathura and Vrindavan. Thousands upon thousands will visit Sri Krishna Janmbhoomi, Dwarkadeesh Temple, Bankey Behari Temple, and other sacred sites during the festivities. ADG Anupam Kulshrestha highlighted that crowd management is a top priority. Devotees must have easy access to all important temples in the region. Sri Bankey Behari Temple, in particular, will receive special attention after last year's tragic incident. Plans have been put in place to enhance safety measures during the night of Janmashtami and the preceding day, which commences with the auspicious 'Mangla Aarti' attended by many.
