Prime Minister Narendra Modi marked a historic moment by inaugurating the priority section of the Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut Regional Rapid Transit System (RRTS) Corridor on Friday. The 17-kilometer priority section, connecting Sahibabad and Duhai Depot, is the first step in transforming regional connectivity through a state-of-the-art transport infrastructure.
The ambitious project, developed at a cost of over ₹30,000 crore, is a testament to the Indian government's commitment to enhancing regional mobility and connectivity. The entire 82.15-kilometer Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut RRTS Corridor is expected to be operational by June 2025.
This transformative transportation system features cutting-edge technology, including trains operating at a top speed of 180 kilometers per hour. With trains planned to run every 15 minutes, it is designed to provide high-speed intercity commuting, significantly reducing travel times in the Delhi-Meerut region.
One notable feature of this RRTS corridor is the 'Namo Bharat' trains, which were unveiled during the launch. Union Minister Hardeep Singh Puri announced this name for the trains, underlining the emphasis on showcasing national pride and the forward-looking vision of India.
The 'Namo Bharat' trains are designed to offer commuters a modern, rapid, and efficient means of transportation. They not only symbolize progress but also represent a new era in the development of India's transportation infrastructure. The RRTS corridor's high-speed trains will transform the way people travel, enhancing regional connectivity and supporting the growth of urban centers like Ghaziabad, Muradnagar, and Modinagar.
The Indian government's vision for the RRTS system emphasizes enhancing regional connectivity, providing faster and more efficient transportation options, and promoting national pride. With the successful launch of the priority section of the Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut RRTS Corridor and the introduction of 'Namo Bharat' trains, India takes a significant step towards achieving these goals and ushering in a new era of regional transit.
As the entire corridor becomes operational in the coming years, it is expected to have a profound impact on the Delhi-Meerut region, benefiting commuters and contributing to the country's overall development and progress.
