Sanjay's mother died when he was still an infant and his father remarried a lady much younger to him. The woman used to torture Sanjay unnecessarily to satisfy her frustration.
Sanjay loved to be alone after his mother's death... he put himself into the shell of self seclusion. Sanjay's personality started changing and he tried to avoid everyone.
The behaviour of the young boy was changing day by day since he had lost his mother… his father thought that a change of place might work and he would become normal again as he might find his mother back in his loving maternal aunt and that was the reason his father shifted Sanjay to Delhi to his maternal uncle's place.
After completing his secondary school, Sanjay came to Delhi from Karnal for further studies and got admitted to college.
News of his father's death and his untraced step mother reached Sanjay soon after he had settled down in Delhi.
Sanjay's father left all his property in Sanjay's name and that caused greed in many, especially his maternal aunt… Sanjay could get the ownership only after he attained adulthood.
Uncle Manish Mahatkar, a childhood friend of Sanjay's father was shocked by the change in Sanjay's attitude as he used to meet that helpless boy frequently and wanted to consult Dr. Trivedi of SUKUN for his advice.
Despite many obstacles from Sanjay's uncle and aunt, Manish Mahatkar took Sanjay to SUKUN, where Sanjay took refuge under the shadow of Dr. Trivedi's affection.
After the car entered the yard, Mr. Mahatkar asked Sanjay to get out of the car but he curled himself up and squeezed to the corner of the car. He did not agree to set his feet out of the car. That aggression was exacerbated by the arrival of female nurses. The look in his eyes changed immediately.
With the help of Dr. Trivedi and the kind male attendant Parmeet's sympathetic behaviour, it was possible to take him to the doctor's chamber.
It did not take long for Dr. Trivedi to diagnose his problems through conversation and hypnosis.
Sanjay's aunt came with her complaint. She told doctor Trivedi "Sanjay is perfectly alright and there is no need of keeping him in a mental asylum. Manish Mahatkar is a greedy man and he is trying to prove that Sanjay's mental condition is not normal as he is eager to grab his property."
Dr. Trivedi was annoyed, he said "Manish is my childhood friend and I know him well… I will also request you not to stamp SUKUN a mental asylum… we take care of the inconsistent minds in our own way and try to get them settled back in society… to get back their own identity."
Dr. Trivedi maintained his coolness and requested Sanjay's aunt to wait.
Sanjay was brought to Dr. Trivedi's chamber to confront his aunt and as soon as Sanjay saw his aunt, he had a panic attack though he was completely calmed for the past few days.
He closed his eyes and began to shiver. He grasped Dr. Trivedi's hand and tried to say something pointing to his aunt… he denied looking at her.
As his aunt tried coming closer with an affectionate gesture, Sanjay picked up the heavy paperweight from the table and threw it at his aunt.
In anticipation, experienced Parmeet guarded the woman to save her from the attack.
At the behest of Dr. Trivedi, Parmeet and Munna grabbed the violent Sanjay and took him out of the room.
The doctor kept an eye on Sanjay's frightened aunt Kanika when he found her alone in the room.
"Now ma'am… will you say that your nephew is perfectly okay and you'll be able to handle him?"
Kanika was speechless and didn’t know what to say.
"Why didn't your husband accompany you? I need to talk to him too about Sanjay's treatment."
Shadow of fear engulfed Kanika's eyes, but she tried to be aggressive to protect herself.
"Why is my husband needed here… he had never looked after him. Sanjay was always under my care."
"Do you think you have acted in a proper way to treat an innocent, young boy who is like your own child? If your child was handled in a similar manner…?"
"What do you mean… what have I done? I have been extra affectionate to Sanjay, he is like my own son."
Doctor Trivedi was sad, he said "I know everything and I will prove it if needed."
"I will visit the police station alleging that my nephew is unjustly detained here."
"Why should you take all that pain Madame... I have already informed the police, they will be here any moment and you can easily lodge your complaint against me."
The leech became dormant as soon as it was salted.
"Go home, you will meet the police there. You have been charged with sexual assault of a minor and your husband... for supporting you. Wish you good luck ma'am."
Sanjay couldn’t stand the presence of women and so Dr. Trivedi had allotted the full authority of Sanjay's care over to Parmeet and Munna.
The doctor continued trying his best to bring back Sanjay's lost faith by revealing the better and positive aspects of the world in front of him through songs, stories and exposing him to the beauty of nature.
He arranged to celebrate the festival of 'Bhai-Duj' for Sanjay to make him understand the beautiful relationship between brothers and sisters.
Sanjay was recovering slowly and almost after a year he was nearly out of his mental trauma.
He was handed over to his father's friend and well wisher, Manish Mahatkar by the psychotherapist, Dr. Trivedi.
