Urmil Veronica Gautam was brought up in the Orphanage, Tender Bud in Himachal Pradesh. She was deserted by her teenage mother Sonam and grandmother Kaushalya as Urmil was an illegitimate child, born out of Sonam's father's sexual urge. Urmil, a talented tennis player with extreme possibilities, could not pursue her career in tennis, in want of money. She completed her studies and came down to Delhi from the hilly terrain of Solan to take up a job. Asthaa and Urmil, the two girls who had left their homes in the mountains became friends with similar likings. Asthaa wanted Urmil as her life partner but Urmil loved her only as a friend.
