As India gears up to celebrate its 75th Republic Day on January 26th, the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) is making special arrangements to ensure smooth travel for those attending the grand parade on Kartavya Path (formerly Rajpath).
In a first for Republic Day celebrations, Delhi Metro services will commence at 4:00 am across all lines on January 26th. This early start aims to facilitate convenient travel for spectators and parade participants alike. From 4:00 am to 6:00 am, trains will run at a frequency of 30 minutes, ensuring timely access to the parade venue. Following this initial period, regular timetables will resume for the rest of the day.
Additional measures are also being implemented to manage the expected surge in ridership:
Increased security: DMRC will deploy additional security personnel at stations and within trains to ensure passenger safety and maintain order.
Enhanced cleaning: Stations and trains will undergo thorough cleaning and sanitization throughout the day.
Public announcements: Regular announcements will be made at stations and onboard trains to guide passengers and provide updates on parade timings and crowd movement.
Parking restrictions: Parking restrictions may be imposed near stations close to Kartavya Path to manage traffic flow. Passengers are advised to check for updates and plan their travel accordingly.
DMRC encourages passengers to pre-purchase tokens or recharge their smart cards to avoid delays at stations. They also recommend using travel apps to plan their journeys and check live train information.
