Walter Whitman, was an American poet, essayist, journalist, and humanist. He talked about the token of being human in his poem 'Animal' ( from Song of myself). He showed his ignorance for not knowing where such a token of human being was lost but recently I got to see where that token is.
Let me tell you an anecdote from one of my acquaintances Dr.Neeraj and his friend a squirrel.
He is a professor of chemistry and narrated a fascinating experience. a year before, It was a pleasant winter afternoon, after taking his lunch, he decide to have a stroll on the college premises along with his colleague and good friend. while strolling in the open area his attention was drawn toward a chipmunk then he rushed to his cubicle and brought some leftover rice to feed it. usually, chipmunks are not so friendly and familiar with human nearness but it was amazement, not only it took the rice but also start responding to his calling, no matter where it could be.
since then it has been. yesterday I witnessed the same thing and I recounted Walt Whitman's Poem 'Animal' Now, I know where that TOKEN is. It is in possession of animals because at present Aminals are more human than Humans.
