Indian Paper Industry: Export Perspective

India first Machine made paper was manufactured around 1812. Paper Industry in India is mainly plantation based so to increase the production of [paper more area of land should be brought under plantation of eucalyptus and other tress apposite for making of papers. Indian paper industry is a vast industry comprising more than big 157 (Total 550 player) paper producing division all across the country. 157 functional units produce handmade paper approx 25 crores and providing employment to 10, 000 people. The capacity of Indian paper industry is around 75,000 tons a year. West Bengal and Maharashtra are leading in the country for paper production. The Indian paper industry can be broadly divided into matrix characterized by size, grades manufactured and raw material utilized. The three main grades of paper manufactured in India are :- 1. Newsprint 2. Writing and printing. 3. Industrial Variety (Craft paper and Duplex Board )
