A distressing incident involving a 39-year-old CEO named Suchana Seth from a Bengaluru-based AI startup was arrested by the Karnataka Police for allegedly murdering her four-year-old son at a hotel in Goa and attempting to flee with the child's body to Bengaluru.
Seth and her son had checked into a hotel in North Goa's Sinquerim on January 6. The crime was discovered when hotel staff, cleaning the room after Seth's departure, noticed bloodstains on the sheets. Promptly, the hotel management alerted the police.
Investigations revealed that Seth had killed her son using a sharp weapon. After committing the crime, she requested the hotel to arrange a taxi for her purported journey back to Bengaluru, expressing a preference for travelling by road. Surveillance footage showed Seth checking out of the hotel alone, raising suspicion.
Initially, Seth misled the police by claiming she left her son with a relative in South Goa. However, her story did not hold up under scrutiny. Authorities then contacted the taxi driver she had hired and directed him to report to the nearest police station. Subsequently, Seth was apprehended with the assistance of the Karnataka Police in Chitradurga district as she was en route to Bengaluru.
The police from Calangute traveled to Karnataka to secure Seth's custody for further interrogation. As of the report, authorities were still working to ascertain the motive behind the tragic incident.
