2. Junior Commissioned Officers (JCOs): Those in pay band levels 6 to 9 are eligible for a car model with a basic price below 10 lakhs.

3. Officers: Personnel in pay levels 10 to 18 can purchase a car with a basic price below 20 lakhs.

For electric vehicle (EV) models, an additional limit of 5 lakhs is granted, further expanding the choices available to defense personnel.

Service Requirements and Car Purchase Frequency

While officers have no minimum service requirement, JCOs and ORs need to have a minimum of 5 years of service to be eligible to buy a car through the CSD Canteen . The purchase frequency and stages differ based on rank:

1. ORs: They can buy one car during their service and one after retirement, with a minimum gap of 8 years between two cars.

2. JCOs: They are entitled to purchase three cars – the first as an OR, the second in JCO rank, and the third after retirement. Similar to ORs, an 8-year gap between cars is mandatory.

3. Officers: Officers can make a car purchase through the CSD Canteen every 8 years.

Furthermore, the cars bought through the CSD Canteen are intended for personal use only and cannot be sold or transferred until 5 years from the date of purchase have elapsed.
