Ayurveda: The Ultimate Medicine

Great book and highly recommended. One of the oldest medical systems, Ayurveda, is where the idea of specialisation first appeared. Whether it be in surgery, internal medicine, or psychiatry, these fields all developed in Ayurveda before they did elsewhere in the world. This approach, which is also known as the mother of medicine, places equal emphasis on treating the patient holistically and promoting his whole well-being as it does on curing the ailment. It views the human body as a tiny version of the cosmos and aspires to assist in achieving harmony between the many forces both inside and outside the body. This book argues that Ayurveda is the best kind of therapy and works to dispel the idea that it is at best an additional or alternative treatment.
