World Environmental Health Day is celebrated every year on September 26. It was established by the International Federation of Environmental Health (IFEH) in 2011 to raise awareness about the importance of environmental health and to highlight the need for sustainable and healthy environments. This day emphasizes the interdependence between the environment and human health and encourages collective action to tackle environmental challenges.

The festival usually falls on the third day of the waxing moon (Shukla Paksha) in the month of Bhadrapada (August-September). The rituals involve prayers and offerings to Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati, with some women observing a nirjala fast (without water) as a sign of devotion. Songs, dances, and swings are also a part of the festive atmosphere.   It is considered a very auspicious day for women, reflecting their devotion and strength.
