Social Life of Plants

Great book and highly recommended. Not many people immediately equate plants with sociability. However, these original inhabitants of Earth are incredible life forms with the capacity to wow us if we simply care enough to set aside our preconceptions. Plants create ties, possibly even friendships, with both animals and other plants. They use chemicals to mark out their territory, which they fiercely defend, as they wage war on their adversaries. They make use of hired guns. They employ cunning survival techniques and hire operatives to serve their objectives. Modern science has revealed the inner workings of plant life, and they are far from utterly mundane. The word "extraordinary" might be a better way to describe it. This book presents an unusual point of view that sparks a shocking new perspective on the world of plants.
