INSPIRATIONAL STORIES OF KRISHNA 🌹
The life of Krishna is very interesting and filled with his mischief, love and kindness. Janmashtami is celebrated to mark the birthday of Krishna. It is celebrated in the Hindu month of Shravan.
Janmashtami is celebrated with great joy all over India. Some temples have the idol of the child Krishna in a cradle and people can swing the cradle with the help of a rope tied to it. In homes, people decorate their houses and puja mandaps and worship Krishna in various forms.
(A) BIRTH STORY OF KRISHNA
Krishna was the eighth child born to Vasudev and Devaki who were the king and queen of Mathura. Kansa the maternal uncle of krishna had imprisoned his sister devaki and her husband vasudev. He believed that their eighth child would be the reason for his death. But Krishna was divine child, when he was born many miracles happened. The guards who stood at the prison fell asleep. The river Yamuna parted to give way to vasudev who carried the just born baby Krishna. He left the baby at the house of Nand and Yashoda in Gokul and returned to the prison in Mathura. Krishna grew up happily in the midst of cows and cowherds. He played with his friends and loved buttermilk, curd and other dairy products. He was very mischievous child and played many pranks. He always busy in stealing butter along with his friends circle. The young boy Krishna also did many miracles, killing many demons sent by kansa to kill him. After he grew up, Krishna went to mathura and killed kansa. He released his parents and grandfather from prison.
Krishna was a friend of the Pandavas in the great epic 'Mahabharata' and helped them in many ways. During the kurukshetra war, he was the charioteer of Arjuna. He guided them at every step so that the pandavas were able to defeat the kauravas. Krishna built his kingdom known as dwarka and ruled from there.
(B) TEMPLES OF LORD KRISHNA
There are many important temples of Krishna in India and some of the important Krishna temples are under below heads.
(1) Shri Krishna Janmasthan Temple : Mathura is a group of temples around the place where krishna was born and his whole life story was mentioned.
(2)Shri Dwarkadhish Temple : In Dwarka, Gujarat where Krishna is worshipped as the king of Dwarka kingdom.
(3) Shri Bankey Bihari : This temple is located at Vrindavan where shri krishna rasleela takes place.
(4)Shri Krishna Temple : Shrinathji temple is located in Nathdwara (Udaipur )
(5)Shri Krishna Temple : Udupi Sri Krishna temple is located in Udupi (Karnataka )
(C)KRISHNA FAVOURITE FOOD (BHOG):
Krishna as a child was very fond of milk products. He loved butter and curds and used to move around with his friends in stealing butter. During Jamashtami, many of his favourite food is offered and then eaten as Prasad. Some of these are poha, kheer, maakhan mishri and panjiri. Devotees fast on Janmashtami and spend the day worshipping Krishna and singing his bhajans. Krishna who was the avatar of Lord Vishnu ended his avatar near somnath in Gujarat.
Many Krishna temples organize recitation of Bhagavata purana and Bhagavad Gita. The Janmashtami of Mathura and Vrindavan is famous all over the world because there places are associated with Krishna. Children wear colour ful dresses and crowns on their heads and resemble herself as ' BAL KRISHNA '. In many places the sport of Dahi handi takes place. Here a pot of curd is tied high up in the air and teams compete to reach the pot and break it. The winning teams are given prizes for the competition.
