Meaning of அரிவாள் in English

  • A kind of large drinking cup, -- used by Greeks and Romans, esp. by poor folk.
  • The cup of a narcissus, or a similar appendage to the corolla in other flowers.

  • An instrument for mowing grass, grain, or the like, by hand, composed of a long, curving blade, with a sharp edge, made fast to a long handle, called a snath, which is bent into a form convenient for use.

  • Any one of three species of humming birds of the genus Eutoxeres, native of Central and South America. They have a long and strongly curved bill. Called also the sickle-billed hummer.
  • A curlew.
  • A bird of the genus Epimachus and allied genera.
  • A plant of the genus Coronilla (C. scorpioides); -- so named from its curved pods.
  • The healall (Brunella vulgaris).
