Great book and highly recommended. Fifty short scenes highlight the many facets of human nature. A tribal chief in the Sahyadri Hills tells the author that there is humility in receiving as well, and a sick woman remembers to thank her donor even from her deathbed. Another guy abandons his elderly father in an old age facility after pronouncing him to be a homeless stranger. These are just a few of the moving and eye-opening tales that Sudha Murty tells in this book about people from all around the nation. She documents everything with sardonic humour and a directness that touches the heart, from extraordinary gestures of compassion to the meanest behaviour one can reasonably anticipate from men and women.
