For any Indian parent their life revolves around their child. They try to do all they can for the well-being of their children, right from their birth to their graduation, and even after that they wanna make sure that their children gets success, and have a happy and safe life.
When we look on internet, parenting is defined as the activity of bringing up a child, but this definition does not justify how complex this thing actually is, especially in modern times.
When we look back, half a century ago, parenting in India was much more confined, strict and simple as compared to modern times. But as decades went by, parenting started to become much more complex and overwhelming.
In today’s world, children are exposed to a lot of stuff and things, easily through internet and social media. The world is connected to each other much more than before, and any kind of information is easily available to anyone. Hence the child is no longer dependent on a parent or guardian to learn things from their parents, they are only a click away to do that.
Hence it is necessary for a child and parent to have a comfortable environment and an open relation in which they can feel free to discuss things, have a conversation without being afraid, and trust each other with their problems. And for that what is a better way than being like friends
with their child.
When a child feels like their parents are like their friends only, from a young age, to whom they can freely talk, or tell about anything they are facing or anything that happened, then the child will grow up in a much better way, and also the chances of facing mental health issues like
depression will be low in them.
Many Bollywood films also have portrayed such kind of parenting style, such as:-
Angrezi Medium
Irfan Khan in Angrezi Medium goes to great lengths to help his daughter get the education she deserves and desires, even through all the financial restraints. Showing just how committed he was to being by her side, if that’s not best friend behaviour.
Yeh jawani hai Diwani
Ranbir Kapoor’s dad was so supportive and compassionate towards his life goals. But it was not just that, he stood by him in a way that was booth gentle and strong, like a silent companion and friend, who was always there for him when needed.
